Frequently Asked Questions

Early answers for early curiosity.

About Mentwire

  1. What is Mentwire?

A new social network that rewards careful thinking, intellectual discourse, and thoughtful conversations.

  2. How is Mentwire different?

Unlike traditional social media, Mentwire rewards credibility: you pass a reliability evaluation, earn a dynamic credibility score, and see posts by what careful readers find valuable, not by raw clicks or follower counts.

  3. Is this a place for everyone?

Probably not. It's built for people who change their minds when shown better evidence. It's meant for people who prefer refuting the central point rather than ad hominem attacks and name-calling.

Membership & Invitations

  1. How can I join Mentwire?

We are invite-only. Everyone takes a reliability evaluation test.

  2. What's in the evaluation?

You'll evaluate social media posts, short articles, claims, and data visualisations drawn from the real world. It's a preview of how conversations work inside Mentwire.

  3. Is there a membership fee?

Mentwire is free to join. We may introduce premium features in the future.

  4. Why is Mentwire invitation-only?

To avoid the Eternal September phenomenon and to preserve the quality of discourse.

Content & Features

  1. What makes Mentwire's feed "smart"?

Posts rise when other credible readers find them thoughtful. Periodic challenges blend into feed to update credibility and reliability.

  2. Will my score be public?

No, your score will not be public. A small badge "blue check" will be made public to signal credibility.

  3. What content moderation practices do you employ?

We use strict content moderation; think of this as a professional or academic enviroment. Name calling, abusive threatening messages is a one-strike warning, two-strike out policy.

  4. Can I remain anonymous on Mentwire?

Pseudonymous participation is allowed, anonymity is not. All users are verified during registration. This balanced approach protects member privacy while maintaining accountability for contributions.

  5. Can I edit my previous posts on Mentwire?

Yes, for a short time after posting, you can edit or delete your posts. If you edit a post, the original version will still be visible. You can't repost something just like it right after deleting.

  6. Can I delete my account?

Yes, you can delete your account. Posts you made will stay so that replies to them still make sense.

Looking Ahead

To build the most rigorous public square online. One where merit, not noise, decides what gets heard.
